Welcome to the Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church Website

"Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." - Romans 15:7

Dear Friends and Supporters of Saint Barbara,

It is with great joy that we welcome you to Saint Barbara's website. Our goal is to make your virtual visit with us friendly and personal, just like being one of the family.

Saint Barbara, located in the heart of Manhattan's Chinatown, has been servicing the spiritual needs of Orthodox Christians since the mid 1920's, and continues to do so to the present day. We are the beautiful building that you see when you exit east on the Manhattan Bridge. Since September 11th we are the only Greek Orthodox Church on the Lower East Side. Our sister church, Saint Nicholas on Cedar Street, was lost on that tragic day - and we pray that the rebuilt St. Nicholas Church will be finished, soon.

Saint Barbara is known as the patron saint of artillerymen and firemen. She is also the protector against sudden death. May she intercede for us all.

This website was designed to let you know that you have a family at Saint Barbara. Please visit us! We are easily accessible by public transportation and are easy to get to by car as well (see our link for directions). May our Lord bless you abundantly with every good and perfect gift from above.

With prayers and great appreciation for your support,

The Clergy and Parish Council of Saint Barbara
